Gushing Beauty in the Valley

It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted or the lazy ones – it is undeniably, for the thrill-seekers. It’s for those who choose a trek over a spa treatment, the lush green grass over a spring mattress and the pure night sky over the city nightlife. It’s for those who live to feel alive, because after all, like Cinthol stressed on in their new campaign, being alive is awesome!

It’s with that thought that I visited Kune Falls located in the heart of the Lonavala-Khandala valley. When the power of the cascading falls pushes you down, it’s only the rumbling at your feet that holds you up. Your mind is free and the only sound filling your mind is that of the falls as it gushes down the mountain. The chilled gush of wind that envelopes your drenched body is freezing yet almost comforting.

Kune Falls, Khandala

You need bigger gulps of air to breathe, but you finally manage to breathe with the rhythm of the falls as it completely takes you over.

The waterfall bathing experience is like no other – a feeling of complete freedom and vigour. You would have never felt a power so great before, a force so astonishing yet calming and a sense of being so alive.

Like all great things that nature has to offer, Kune Falls too is not easily accessible. Some may tire climbing the rocks, but the sight of the majestic falls instantly wipes away any hesitation you might have on the trek to the falls. Splash in the water, get drenched in its gushing beauty or just relax on the rocks and soak in the breath-taking view.

How to get there: Take the Mumbai-Pune expressway and exit it at the Lonavala bypass. Take the old Mumbai-Pune highway for 10 minutes and head towards Kune Church. From there, you can walk the path till you reach Kune Falls.
